Hill Climb Racing 2: vehicles to buy or not to buy

There’s more than dozen of vehicles in the game: some of them existed since the first version of the game was released, some of them was added recently. Some vehicles are really good, some of them are just for fun. Let’s look what you should buy for further victories, and what you shouldn’t.

Da Jeep, AKA Hill Climber (0$) — you just can’t get without it

That’s your first transport that costs nothing. Be happy that you have this kind of wheels. This car is good enough even without spending money for enhanced details it can be powerful enough to win the platinum cup. So it’s really good wheels for start. You should better use this as long as you can without buying any oher transport. Hill Climber is pretty stable and predictable, so you shoudn’t experience any control issues.

Pros: It’s FREE!!!

Cons: none for this price

Scooter (5000$) — don’t buy!

Scooter becomes available on second bronze level. At this time you get enough money to afford this vehicle, so it’s hard to resist from buying. But you shouldn’t buy it. Scooter is pretty strange at acceleration and low stability: it turns on wheelie every time and flips afterward. You should buy it when every other vehicle are in your garage.

Pros: not so expensive

Cons: tricky at control, unstable.

Bus (7000$) — it’s useless

This is one of the newest cars in the game, it becomes available at the third bronze. The bus is a controversial vehicle. On the one hand, it is a clumsy, slow-moving huge trough. But if you diligently crash the body into obstacles and terrain, then the bus will begin to lose details. First, the roof will fly off, then passengers will begin to fall out. As a result, the back part of the bus will come off and the driver Bill will remain only on the front wheel. Incredibly, on this wheel you can go far in the passage of the adventure «City». And especially cunning players win the competition for the jump distance on the bus — I think with the details pumped to the maximum: lunar boosters and wings.

Pros: Breaks apart beautifully

Cons: difficult to manage, jumpy, clumsy

Hill Climber MK2 (9000$) — it doesn’t worth it

This is the first car with built-in roll cage driver protection that was available in the original version of the game. This car is available upon reaching the first silver level. You will want to buy it to pass the mountain cup, but you should not do this. Firstly, MK2 is not stable enough and constantly falls down on the rear wheel. Secondly, it is better to pass the mountain cup on a rally car or a sand buggy: on them in the second track you can fly onto a log and save a lot of time.

Pros: inexpensive, driver protection

Cons: unstable, poor acceleration

Motobike (20000$) — useless

On the second silver, the opportunity to purchase a motorcycle opens. The idea is dubious, especially if you have already taken a scooter and didn’t learn a thing. The motorcycle has no advantages, and all the disadvantages are inherited from the scooter: poor stability, unpredictable acceleration, increased jumping ability. It is definitely not worth taking this vehicle to pass the cups.

Pros: not very bogged down in sand and water

Cons: sharp, jumpy, unstable

Sand Buggy (30000$) — awesome car to buy

On the third silver, the first car worth buying and pumping since the days of the first jeep opens — a sand buggy. Light, low, with sharp acceleration and built-in driver protection, the buggy is ideal for lunar competitions and mountain climbing. Cups are won quite easily on it, especially tunnels, mountain cup and other difficult races. With all the advantages, the buggy has one drawback: this car practically does not go in reverse.

Advantages: light, strong, with sharp acceleration

Disadvantages: does not drive in reverse, low top speed

Sport car (80000$) — don’t waste your time

This is a cool car that did not exist from the very beginning of the game, but appeared a little later, and therefore expensive. It was perfect until newer vehicles came along. It became clear that this car has a steep maximum speed, but very slow acceleration even at the maximum pumping. I passed many cups on it, but today I do not advise taking it. Tuning is not cheap, but it makes no sense. With wings allows you to go through a forest adventure up to 11 thousand kilometers.

Pros: beautiful, fast

Cons: slow acceleration, high price

Monster truck (40000$) — don’t buy

The monster truck is available at the second gold level. Its huge wheels allow you to ignore small changes in the terrain. But high jumping ability, not the best stability on two wheels and the high height of the machine itself significantly outweigh the advantages. If you take this colossus, then only out of desperation, when the money has nowhere else to go. Seriously, there was not a single situation where the monster truck was better than other cars.

Pros: big wheels

Cons: tall and bulky

Super Diesel (60000$) — so-so vehicle

This is the coolest car from all that were available in the original version of the game. Today, the super diesel, which becomes available at the third gold level, has no chance. It has a good maximum speed and good acceleration, but the roof is «one-time» and will not protect the pilot from a second collision with the land. The car is really not bad (was back then), but if you started playing HCR2 quite recently, choose more modern cars.

Pros: fast, moderately bouncy

Cons: weak roof, rather big dimensions

Tank (70000$) — I doubt you need it

The tank opens when you reach the platinum level. This is a fairly old vehicle and many have purchased it by mistake. The advantage of the tank in the tracks and the unlikely possibility of capsizing. There are also a lot of disadvantages: weak maximum speed, lack of driver protection, small fuel tank volume, which is proposed to be improved. In general, the car becomes vigorous at maximum pumping, but there is very little point in this. I do not advise wasting time on a tank.

Pros: fast, moderately bouncy

Cons: weak roof, rather big dimensions

Snowbike (70000$) — don’t buy

The snowmobile in Hill Climb Racing 2 appeared quite recently and many managed to not only buy it, but also pump it to the maximum. Surprisingly, many adventure distance records are made on a snowmobile. In ordinary life, this is a rather slow and clumsy trough, on which it is difficult to win cups. So you can try to buy a snowmobile, but only when the money has nowhere to go.

Advantages: Steep in the snow, practically does not tip over

Disadvantages: slows down the front ski, high price

Monowheel (30000$) — not a good idea to buy one

The unicycle came about when the HCR2 started testing competitions in the form of challenges. This is an inexpensive, but very difficult vehicle to drive. Even with an average level of pumping on a unicycle, it is difficult to win races, and cups like Nagorny are impassable in principle. The unicycle performs well in mountain competitions, as it allows you to take long, steep climbs without bumps. The rest is useless hipster bullshit.

Advantages: inexpensive, confidently takes long climbs

Disadvantages: does not like bumps, difficult to manage

Rally Car (70000$) — awesome car!

This is the third decent car, after a sand buggy and a free jeep, which you need to buy and pump to the limit. A rally car successfully combines high maximum speed and confident acceleration, low landing and driver protection, good flying ability and weak jumping ability. On this car, you can go through absolutely all the cups and, in most cases, set personal records in time. In almost all competitions, it is the rally that comes first. If you want to enjoy HCR2 victories, the rally should be taken as soon as you get to the third platinum level!

Pros: best car in the game

Cons: none

Formula (90000$) — don’t buy

The formula appears at the diamond level and costs decent money. This car has a devilishly steep acceleration and the highest top speed among others. But there is a problem: a very stiff and short suspension — on a bump or when landing, the speed drops to almost zero. Therefore, the formula can be taken with extra money and set a couple of personal records on long and not very bumpy tracks.

Pros: high maximum speed, sharp acceleration

Cons: stiff suspension

Lunar module (0$) — don’t waste your time

The lunar module can be obtained by successfully completing competitions on the moon. The module has six wheels and is very good at climbing long climbs in competition. He also has vertical boosters that allow you to take off, but consume fuel very quickly. Given that the lunar rover in HCR2 is relatively free, you can try to upgrade it. But he’s not that good in cups. If the lunar rover rolls over, then the dome above the driver shoots off — this allows you to return the lunar module back to the wheels, but deprives the driver of protection.

Advantages: climbs well on long climbs

Disadvantages: one-time driver protection, high fuel consumption by boosters
